Senator Warren wins against pro-crypto Republican John Deaton in Massachusetts

Live results from NBC News showed that the incumbent Democrat candidate, Senator Warren, was well in the lead over the crypto-friendly Deaton in the Massachusetts Senate race. Slightly over 1.5 million votes have been tallied and confirmed so far, with about 2 million votes remaining.

Warren is set to have her third six-year term in the U.S. Senate. Speaking to his supporters in the early morning of November 6th, Deaton said he had called Warren and congratulated her on her win. Warren, who cemented her popularity and reputation as a fierce critic of billionaires, large corporations, and crypto, went into the 2024 elections with a comfortable 26-point lead in all polls.

Warren decimates political newcomer and crypto advocate Deaton

‘Anti-crypto’ incumbent, Senator Warren, cruised to a comfortable win, beating newcomer and self-proclaimed crypto advocate Deaton. Warren had a strong lead in the polls since early September before Deaton made up ground after their two debates, reducing Warren’s lead by six points by late October.

Warren presented herself as a champion for the embattled middle class and a critic of regulations favoring the wealthy. During her victory speech in Boston, she told her supporters that she would keep up the good fight and ensure that the government worked for the people, not just the rich or well-connected.

At the end of her victory speech, Warren remarked that she was ready to return to work and start the next chapter.

“We have a lot that we want to get done, and that work will take all of us. So, tonight we will rest up, but tomorrow we get ready for the next fight. And I’m in this fight all the way.”

Warren reminded Boston voters, that she had delivered massive wins over the 12 years she had been in office. She firmly stated that the government could be harnessed to work for the people even as Republicans took control of the Senate.

The ‘crypto card’ fails miserably in Massachusetts’ Senatorial race

The incumbent’s track record since taking office in 2013 showed that she had helped pass 43 bills into law, with about 60% of them being bipartisan. Her major accomplishments were her successful fight against ‘junk pharma patents’ and the push for a corporate tax to help pay for the Inflation Reduction Act.

She also emphasized the importance of discussing policy, claiming to be a ‘policy nerd’ even when crypto seemed to play a key role during this election cycle.

The incumbent remained popular in the State despite her anti-crypto sentiments and calls for more stringent crypto regulations. Her strong stance on crypto has not changed, and it seems unlikely to change in the near future, even as the pro-crypto Trump moves closer to a win.
