The convergence of blockchain’s secure infrastructure with AI’s advanced analytical capabilities is reshaping DeFi and the broader Web3 sector. By integrating AI, DeFi (decentralized finance) platforms can enhance decision-making without compromising on decentralization. Traditional financial institutions are taking notice and are actively exploring how this combination can improve efficiency, reduce risk, and unlock new opportunities in their operations.
As AI becomes a strategic asset in institutional workflows, its reliance on speed, scale, and real-time responsiveness has revealed cracks in legacy blockchain infrastructure. These frameworks were not initially built to support AI’s high-performance demands, which leads to bottlenecks and latency. This can be a significant issue for organizations where every millisecond counts.
Lava Network has emerged as a company addressing this gap by providing clients such as developers, enterprises, and AI agents with secure and reliable vendor-agnostic Remote Procedure Call (RPC) access. RPC is the communication protocol that allows applications to interact with blockchain nodes, whether sending transactions or retrieving smart contract data, enabling apps to “talk” to the network.

Lava’s Smart Router was recently adopted by Fireblocks, one of the industry’s leading digital assets platforms, to maximize performance and speed, ensuring uninterrupted service in environments where RPC failures or high latency are not an option.
Pavel Berengoltz, Co-Founder and CTO of Fireblocks, shares: “Lava’s Smart Router has improved our ability to deliver optimized and reliable blockchain access for our users. It’s enabled our teams to focus more on innovation and less on managing node-level infrastructure.”
According to the joint press release, Lava’s Smart Router infrastructure layer connects several RPC providers, routing requests to the fastest nodes without displacing the current RPC vendors. With built-in failover, error recovery, dual caching, and observability tools, the Smart Router allows Fireblocks to achieve greater speed and uptime without harming performance.
The Smart Router also includes comprehensive monitoring, allowing Fireblocks to monitor its infrastructure health through live alerts and insights. This enhanced visibility allows issues to be identified and resolved proactively, ensuring seamless operations.
Yair Cleper, CEO of Magma Devs and Lava Network contributor, adds: “This integration is a validation of the infrastructure layer we’ve been building since day one. Enterprises like Fireblocks need performance, reliability, and flexibility—and that’s exactly what Lava delivers.”
The opportunities of blockchain and AI are endless; however, for enterprises to fully adopt these technologies, speed and reliability must be non-negotiable. Without the infrastructure to support real-time performance, adoption will remain limited.
