The adoption of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin payments have continued to be on the increase.
Popular American fitness company Equinox Group is among the latest U.S. businesses to allow its customers to make payments for its services using Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE).
The company noted in a recent article on its website dubbed “New York: Pay With Crypto,” that it has partnered with popular cryptocurrency payment provider BitPay for the initiative.
According to the announcement, all New York-based members of Equinox Group are eligible to pay for different services offered by the fitness company using both Dogecoin and SHIB.
Equinox Supports Other Cryptocurrencies
Meanwhile, the two memecoins are not the only cryptocurrency Equinox Group members are allowed to use as digital currency payment methods.
Clients can also use other BitPay supported cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and five different stablecoins.
Requirements of the Service
It is worth noting that before a client is allowed to pay for fitness services at Equinox Group in the city of New York, the customer must obtain a pre-approved BitPay ID, which can be obtained from the BitPay official website.
Equinox Group disclosed that customers who opt for the service should know that the exchange rate between selected cryptocurrencies and the United States Dollars is locked for a period of 15 minutes.
“Equinox and BitPay are not responsible for any exchange rate changes when payment is not completed within the initial 15-minute period or in connection with any refund permitted by the terms of your Equinox membership agreement,” the company said.
However, customers who, after making payments using memecoins and demanding a refund, will be reimbursed the U.S. value that was locked in at the time of their purchase.
Rising Adoption of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin Payments
The latest development marks a growth in the widespread adoption of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin in payments.
As reported, at least ten publicly-listed companies, including Tesla and Dallas Mavericks, accept Dogecoin as a payment method.
Similarly, Shiba Inu enthusiasts can now purchase burgers and sandwiches from Naples-based restaurant Welly.
